|As a point of clarification, the following shall apply to Spare Locomotive Engineers when they are displaced from a temporary vacancy.|
Spare Locomotive Engineers being displaced from temporary vacancies will be placed on the Spareboard according to previous tie up time.
The Crew Dispatcher will notify the displaced Locomotive Engineer immediately following the return of the Locomotive Engineer owning the assignment or turn, or a senior Locomotive Engineer claiming the vacancy, and shall afford the Spare Locomotive Engineer in the vacancy, the same time frame to return the call as what would be afforded a Spare Locomotive Engineer being given a call to work.
In the event that the Crew Dispatcher is unable to contact the Spare Locomotive Engineer in the vacancy, the Spare Locomotive Engineer will lose their ability to be placed first out according to their tie up time unless a spare turn has yet been called by the Crew Management Centre.
This rule is to dissuade Spare Locomotive Engineers from choosing when to accept displacements, thereby choosing choice work at the expense of fellow Spare Locomotive Engineers.
