Dear Sisters and Brothers:

In recent weeks a strong majority of you have signed application cards to join the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference. We would like to congratulate all of you who took part in this campaign and thank you for choosing the Teamsters. As a result of your support we have filed an application for certification with the Canada Industrial Relations Board.

The Canadian Industrial Relations Board will soon conduct an official vote on which union you want to represent you, the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference or the UTU. Please be assured that Teamsters Canada Rail Conference does not impose decisions on our members. Rather, we are guided by the democratic principle of “one member, one vote”. Our goal is to ensure that your needs are met, not to make decisions for you.

We are hoping that the Conductors, Trainmen, Yardmen and Yardmasters at CN will join us in the very near future and form a formidable alliance within the Rail Industry. Working together with the Locomotive Engineers and Rail Traffic Controllers at CN will strengthen the power of our members and enhance our abilities to successfully deal with the aggressive approach of the Rail Carriers.

Again, we thank you for choosing the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference. We will be keeping you informed as we move forward together.

In solidarity,

D.J. Shewchuk
President
Teamsters Canada Rail Conference
