Brother Duane Currie

Sisters & Brothers, It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of Brother Duane Currie. On behalf of the members of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference Division 295 we would like to extend our sincere condolences to the Currie family.  

Obituary

JULY 14, 1945 – SEPTEMBER 17, 2020

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Duane Currie on Thursday, September 17, 2020, after a brief illness. He was a loving partner and father of three children and passed away at age 75. Duane was born on July 14, 1945 in Fredericton Jct, NB to Donald and Helen Currie. He was a Locomotive Engineer for CP Rail and Rail America. He worked for the railroad for over 41 years.

He retired to Nova Scotia in 2008 where he met Sheila Dauphney. Duane raised two sons and a daughter along with Sheila's two sons. Duane bought and old house in Big Bras D'Or, a 'Diamond in the rough' as he called it. He loved fishing, playing cards and finding new projects to work on around the house. Duane also loved to cook and enjoyed having people over for a barbeque. He looked forward to the holidays as that gave him a chance to cook a big feast and have family and friends over. He was a hardworking man with a gentle soul that loved helping others.

Duane was predeceased by his father, Donald, his mother, Helen, his sisters, Louise and Gloria and his brothers, Daryl, Addison and Milton. He is survived by his partner Sheila, his three children, Clint, Cindy and Steven and Sheila's two sons, Brian and Curtis and his two brothers Blaythe and Richard. Duane had seven grandchildren, Patrick, Julia, Steven, Jake, Mason, Ciara and Grayson.

A family gathering to celebrate Duane's life with be held at a future date. The family would like to thank the Staff at the ICU at Cape Breton Regional. Donations to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
